How I Prep for Amazon Prime Day

I have found some amazing deals on Amazon Prime Day in the past so each year, I eagerly await it. But it is so easy to either get sucked into the hype and buy things you don’t actually want and need or to get overwhelmed and just abandon it without getting some of the cool things you wanted. Here are the five things I do to prep for Amazon Prime Day.

(And if you are interested in killer deals for parents, make sure you check out the post I’ll be updating throughout the sale. I’ll mostly be looking for things that fit in with a Montessori home.)

Prime Day is awesome, but it is even better if you prepare for it ahead of time. Here are five things you should do to prep for Amazon Prime Day. quirkyandthenerd.com

Check Your Amazon Prime Status

Obviously the first thing you need to do is make sure you are an Amazon Prime member. You can’t shop the sale if you aren’t a member. (Here is a little hint though: if you aren’t sure about actually paying for a membership, you can try a 30 day free trial and cancel when it is up!)

Besides Prime Day, Amazon Prime members get awesome perks like free shipping on available purchases and access to Amazon Prime Streaming.

Scope Out Your Cozy Spot

If you really want to get the good deals, you are going to have to sacrifice a summer day to watch the sales because when a sale starts, you need to jump on it! So make sure you set up a little spot with some snacks and maybe a television remote (to watch Amazon Prime Streaming perhaps?)

If you have to work that day, try to keep an eye on the sales or scope them out the night before. Set an alarm on your phone for any deals you just can’t live without. If you are interested in deals for parents (especially more Montessori style parents), make sure you check out the post I will be updating throughout Amazon Prime Day.

Look for Gift Cards

Okay, so maybe some of you won’t have gift cards. But some of you might or maybe you have a way to get them. I do a lot of online surveys (and you should too because they are so easy! Check out my post with the reputable companies I get them through.) I earn quite a few Amazon gift cards that I’ve been hoarding. You best believe I’m going through all of them to redeem any other cards I can before Prime Day.

Make a List

Think about things you want or need that you just haven’t gotten around to buying. Make a list of them so you know what to look for. For instance, we need a de-humidifier for our basement storage room. I’m hoping to score one. I have also been dying to buy the entire DVD series of “Murder She Wrote” and I have pre-warned my husband that if that goes on sale, I am scooping it up immediately.

Do Your Research

Make sure you look at the things that are going on sale and do your research before their sale time comes up. A good sale doesn’t mean you should buy a crappy product. Look at the reviews and if it is a bigger purchase, use a search engine to look for reviews.
